Reviews about Nick’s Menswear

I’m conflicted with how to review the Tucson location. We loved the idea of buying our groomsmen suits from this store since the price appeared to be the same as renting a suit. The reviews for the phoenix store were great. The woman we initially dealt with seemed nice enough and we verified our wedding date with them probably 4 times or more over the course of 6 months or so. Cut to a month before our wedding weekend and my husband went for his fitting. The shirt that the initial saleswoman measured for him was completely wrong in the neck and the pants were too tight. They thankfully swapped out the two and he paid for alterations $10 for a hem which was quite reasonable. Cut to the day before our wedding. Problem one all of the out of town groomsmen had professional measurements and turns out that for all out of town people Nick’s decides to just cut the measurements by 2-3 inches a salesman in the store admitted to the groomsman that this is policy. As a result all of our groomsmen had to pay for alterations beyond just a hem. At our first appointment, the salesperson had promised if it’s more than a hem the store ordered the wrong suit. The second problem after the repeated discussion of our date they still somehow entered our wedding date for 2 days after our actual date. One of the groomsmen tried to tell the staff but it wasn’t until my husband showed up about an hour later with the other groomsmen that the store actually took that seriously. They rushed the alterations and I guess I should be grateful that they stayed open an hour after they were supposed to close to finish all the alterations. However, they promised one groomsman his suit would be done in 2 hours then when he went back they hadn’t even started the alterations. The family picking up the suits arrived at 9pm and the alterations weren’t completed by then either. One of the groomsmen received an uneven sleeve hem and the seams were uneven where they added in fabric (they ordered a vest 4 sizes too small for him), which he’ll have to pay to fix back home. The suits in the end looked good. I would caution any one with out of state groomsmen that they will cut 2-3 inches off your measurements. Looking back I would only get a suit there if you live in town otherwise for your out of state groomsmen find another alternative for the suits. Update: After reaching out to the company I spoke with the Director of Wedding Operations who maintain I was misinformed by the Tucson mall staff and that’s to be expected with opening a new store. The director also wanted to comfort me by stating they had hired a new wedding coordinator in the Tucson location. After some back and forths she eventually agreed to refund the bad alterations but still refused to admit they ordered the wrong size for the 1 groomsman (4 sizes smaller than what he was measured). Eventually one of the owners made contact and he actually sounded truly apologetic for what happened and apologized for the mistakes the store made. He refunded without question the groomsman with the bad alterations and offered a new suit if he couldn’t fix the one he currently had. Also, to help apologize for the added stress he refunded my husband’s suit. His reaction to the situation is the customer service I would have expected from the Director of Wedding Operations. Sometimes the best way to help a customer after the fact is to be sincerely sorry that the store messed up and own that. Had the owner’s response been the Director of Wedding Operations response I would have recommended this store and changed my rating to 5 stars. I still can’t fully recommend the Tucson location and just offer that you shop there at your own risk.
